A mystery poisonous yam flour known in local parlance as Amala has killed a father, and two of his daughters in another family member at Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This is coming after five members of a family member die in Kogi State after another amala meal in September.
The recent deaths occured at Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State, as four family members died after allegedly eating yam flour meal popularly called ‘Amala’.
It was learned that the mysterious deaths of the deceased happened between September, 30 and October 2nd.
It was gathered that the latest incident took place less than a month after a family of five lost their lives while eating a cassava flour meal prepared at their family house in Usugnwe-Okaito, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.
The recent deaths of the father, two daughters, and a family relation has triggered investigation to unravel the mystery behind the deaths of the four family members.
THENETWORK gathered that the victims died one after the other between Friday and Sunday.
The wife of the deceased man, identified as Molomo, also ate the meal alongside her family members, and she is recieving treatment under close examination at ECWA Hospital Egbe.
An eyewitness said the victims took ill overnight after eating the meal, adding that all efforts to stabilise them proved abortive.
They were said to have died when they were all rushed to ECWA Hospital, Egbe, for medical attention.
According to the witness, the burial of the four family members has been suspended, following the community’s suspicion and are alleging foul play over their deaths.
“We are really saddened by the mysterious death of these four family members after eating cassava flour ‘amala’.
“We suspect that someone may have poisoned the food. The community has decided to suspend thier burial pending the outcome of our investigation over their mysterious death.
“This has never happened in our land. It is strange,” a community member said on Monday.”
