•••SOME DYING WHILE WAITING FOR TREATMENT – BISHOP AROGUNDADE
The Catholic Arch Bishop of Ondo, the Lord Bishop Jude Arogundade, has said that the church under his leadership has not been able to put a figure to the innocent worshippers that were massacred at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo on Sunday
Bishop Arogundade said that the leadership of the church could not give the exact number of those murdered in the attack because the members were engrossed getting medical attention for the injured.
Bishop Arogundade said that while many were killed, there were several others who died while waiting for treatment.
According to him, those who were injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, St Louis, State Hospitals, and the State Hospital.
He said that the church with a capacity of 1,200 people was filled capacity when the attack took place.
He said that the Catholics were out in large number to celebrate the special Pentecostal day on Sunday.
The Clergy lamented that some of the top professionals such as doctors were murdered in cold blood by the criminals.
He said, “Hundreds are waiting for medical attention, some are dying in the process.
“I am the leader of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo. I cannot even tell you the number of those killed because we were busy.
“Yesterday I was running around every where to get any available doctor anywhere who can participate in the surgeries.
“They have killed many people. So many people have bullet wounds. They are in hundreds.
“The injured were taken to the FMC, St Louis Catholic Hospital and the State Hospital.
“Hundreds are waiting for medical attention, some are dying in the process.
“We cannot even count because we do not know who is dying and who is alive so far.
“The total capacity of the church is 1200 people, a grade A parish, the biggest in Owo.
The Sunday was the Pentecost Sunday, a special day when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles. We celebrated it yesterday. The church was packed full.”
