Onitsha, the commercial hub of Anambra State, is currently in a standstill as thousands of supporters of the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, march on the streets in support of his 2023 ambition.

The rally commenced at exactly 11.30am from the Zik’s Avenue, near the Chinua Achebe’s Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha.

The supporters matching round the major streets in the rally will finally converge at the stadium.

As of the time of filing this report, operatives of the various security agencies are on the ground providing security and ensuring a hitch-free rally.

The supporters are peaceful as they move through major streets in the commercial city.

The ‘Obidients’ as they describe themselves are organizing marches in the streets of major cities of Nigeria to make a statement in support of Peter Obi that the people of Nigerians are his structures.

Chieftains of other political parties had mocked Obi that he lacked the political structure to win a Presidential election.

He had responded that the suffering people of Nigeria who are disenchanted with the system are the structure he needs to win election.

Similar pre-campaign rallies have taken place Lafia in Nassarawa State, Calabar, Cross River State, Owerri, Imo State, Auchi, Edo State and Port Harcourt.

The supporters had defied heavy rains across the country on Saturday to besiege the streets in Port Harcourt,!Auchi, Edo State, Makurdi, Benue State and Afikpo, Ebonyi State, in a one million march rally.
