The Ondo State House of Assembly has commenced the process to remove the deputy governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The Assembly at plenary on Wednesday directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Benjamin Jaiyeola, to serve impeachment notice on the deputy Governor of his alleged involvement in acts of gross misconduct.
The House is accusing the deputy Governor of perpetrating acts of gross misconduct while he held sway as acting governor during Akeredolu’s medical leave in Germany.
Already the petition against the Deputy Governor has been signed by nine out of 27 members of the House.
The speaker of the Assembly Mr Olamide Oladiji presided over the session.
The majority leader of the house,
Wole Ogunmolasuyi, in his submission quoted section 188 of the constitution to support the assembly action against Aiyedatiwa.
The motion was seconded by the lawmaker representing Akoko South-West, Tope Agbulu.
