Aggrieved councilors in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo state have reportedly seized the legislative symbol of authority, mace and legislative robe of leader of the House.

The decision, as reliably informed was taken in protest of an alleged maladministration on the part of the Council chairman, Hon. Laide Popoola ,a.k.a. Settle,?on Wednesday.

The aggrieved councilors comprising the leader of the House, Hon. Taiwo Isaiah, Hon. Adeyemi Oluyemi, Hon. Adeagbo Waheed and Hon Saudat Omoshalewa stormed the Council Secretariat at Idi Ayunre at the early hours of Wednesday and seized the valuable legislative property.

Our correspondent gathered that they later drove off in their separate cars to an unknown destination.

It was alleged that since their assumption of office barely a year ago, the chairman has been depriving them opportunities to carry out their legislative functions.

“The council chairman has been letting us down since our resumption in office since last year,we are tired of it and it’s like we don’t know our political functions as a legislators.

“We then went for the mace at the council in order to perform our duty this morning,we go together with eight honourable members.”

Our correspondent gathered that the aggrieved councilors are hell bent in removing the embattled chairman through a legislative process

Efforts to get the response of the chairman were not successful.

Our correspondent who was atthe Council Secretariat on Thursday was told that the Chairman was not around.

Also, a text message forwarded to his mobile telephone line was not responded to.

However, a local government staff who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident.

He said there is lingering crisis between the chairman and members of the legislative council.
