Comrade Charles Offordile, an Octogenarian and retiree from the Anambra state civil service has decried the delayed in the payment of pension benefits for years.

Offordile, 81 years and union leader who retired as Deputy Director Staff Development in the Office of State Head of Service on April 1,1999 after putting in 37 and half years, decried many distortions in his pension payment.

Offordile, stressed that he worked hard to deserve the retired benefits.

“If I tell you the arrears of pension Anambra state government is owing me, you will be sorry for me.

“In 2017, they slashed my pension beyond recognition. I have an accident, and have been moving on clutches for six years.

“At a time, they were paying me N8000 monthly as my benefit, you can imagine that. I was supposed to get nothing less than N50,000 for grade level of my status as a retiree.

“I have made several presentations on the matter to the past administrations and they did nothing.

“I humbly appealed to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to help look into the matter. Life has not been easy as I didn’t get what I am supposed to get as my entitlement.

“When they start paying me my correct pension then I will say government have done well to me,”  Offordile said.

On putting in more years than stipulated in the civil service regulation, he said he turned in his retirement papers as demanded but his boss then objected  to it.

“So I have to stay back for more years since he did not allow me to go,” he said.
