Obi of Onitsha Urges Obiano to partner Security Agencies on Insecurity in Anambra

The Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Achebe, has urged effective collaboration between Anambra State Government and the security agencies such as the Military, Police, Navy to solve the problem of insecurity in the state.

The monarch said that such a collaboration would work in consonance with traditional rulers from different communities

Achebe, who is the Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, said this during the Security Council meeting on Wednesday in Awka

He however, commended Obiano on his efforts in fighting crimes in their domain communities in the State.

He assured that the monarchs would readily support efforts geared towards taming the monster of insecurity in their domains.

The monarch stressed that the synergy would help Obiano in conquering the spate of insecurity in the state, especially, along the border towns like Ekwulobia, Ihiala among others

Obiano, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, commended the traditional rulers and the heads of security agencies for their efforts to halt to security challenges bedelieving the state

He remarked that the re-emergence of insecurity in Anambra State leaves much to be desired

The governor re- assured that government would do everything humanly possible to address the ugly situation.

Other monarchs who spoke the way of Obi of Onitsha, included, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo of Nanka, Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi, Igwe Ben Emeka of Umueri, and Igwe Peter Ezeamama of Enugwu Umuonyia .

They stressed the need to beef up security in the State, while decrying the recent tensed atmosphere in some communities.

They all promised that traditional rulers would help to promote peace, Justice and fairness .

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Eworo Echeng, the Director, DSS, Mr Mike Obaje, promised to use their capacities as heads of security agencies to address the recent problems of insecurity in the state.

They appealed to the traditional rulers to assist them with information on how to fish out bad eggs in their communities.

He said that such a collaboration would yield the expected results in alliance with traditional rulers in different communities.

Achebe, who is the Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, said this during the security council meeting at the State conference hall at the government house on Wednesday in Awka
