The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has gifted an applicant Sophia Emmanuel the sum of N75,000.

The LP Candidate fought off tears during his first press conference after the Presidential election when he recalled how the lady could not start a business because of N75,000 to buy the requisite oven.

He told journalists that the lady graduated from the university in 2018 and has been unemployed since then.

He said that even when she opted to learn to be a baker, she couldn’t make a headway as she could not raise the money to buy the oven to start her own business.

On Saturday, Obi posted in his Instagram page that he has given her a cheque of N75,000 for the procurement of the oven to start her baking and confectionery business.

He said that Emnanuel indicated interest in buying a Nigerian made oven which interestingly was in line with his consumption to production mantra.

Obi said, “Today, I fulfilled my pledge to assist Ms Gimba Sophia Emmanuel in her aspiration to acquire an oven and start her baking and confectionery business.

“Interestingly, she had indicated that she would procure a Nigerian-made oven, thus enhancing the value chain and putting into effect the production to consumption mantra.”

Prominent Activist and co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement Aisha Yesufu witnessed the event as shown in the photograph where he was handing over the cheque to the applicant.
