The Managing Director, Nigeria Security Minting and Printing and gubernatorial aspirant of Katsina State, under the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abbas Umar Masanawa, had resigned his appointment citing presidential directives.
Answering questions from journalists in Abuja, on Monday on his purported resignation, the former Mint MD, stated that he simply obeyed the presidential order, requesting Goverment appointees with political ambition to quit.
He said: “Absolutely, I have abided completely with the presidential directive.
“And I’ve resigned my appointment as the Managing Director, and Chief Executive of Nigeria Security, Printing and Minting.
“I sent in my resignation through the Chairman of the board, who also happens to be the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.” He said.
Last Monday, President Buhari, through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ordered all the ministers and political appointees contesting for various elective positions to resign from their appointments on or before May 16.
He said he had notified the President of his ambition to run for the Governorship of the Kastina State.
“Yes through my immediate boss, who is the Central Bank of Nigeria, (The Governor of the Central bank is the Chairman of the board of Nigeria Security, Printing and Minting), I have surely done that.” He added.
