A 2023 New year party has ended in a tragedy following the death of no fewer than five persons with four others critically injured in Akinmori in Afijio Local Government area of Oyo State.
The incident which occured during a new year party organized by a group of friends has thrown the entire community into a mourning mood
One of the organizers was said to be infuriated after being alleged of reckless driving by his colleagues.
It was gathered that the aggrieved reckless driver drove into the venue of the party on a high speed and was scolded by his friends who were already at the venue of the party.
Our correspondent gathered that there was exchange of words between the errant driver and his colleagues which did not go down well with him.
“After intervention of some elders, the young man entered his car reluctantly. Still angry at the confrontation, he vowed to spill blood. Then he started the car and and zoomed into the dancing floor, knocking down over 10 people,” the eyewitness said.
Three of his friends who were in the car at the time were said to have been arrested while his own whereabout is unknown.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident.
