Peter Volunteer Council (PVC), a support group of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has described the All Progressive Congress (APC) Muslim – Muslim ticket as not only unfair and unjust, but a slap on Christians and other religions.
National Coordinator of the group, Mr Chris Arinze made this known in Onitsha, Anambra state on Thursday.
“It simply shows the level of open hostility and hidden contempt of the ruling-APC present administration on other religious groups in Nigeria,” he said.
Arinze said that only religious bigots and Muslim fanatics would support the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“A truly Muslim approves justice and fairness,” he said.
According to him, the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket has exposed the level of the intelligence and sagacity of those intending to take over leadership of a complex country like Nigeria.
He described the APC Muslim-Muslim candidacy as myopic, inequitable, unjust and lacking in fairness.
He urged its members and Nigerians who are not Muslims and even Muslims who are disappointed by the Muslim-Muslim ticket not to be deterred, but be consoled that the LP President and vice Presidential candidates are true Nigerians and true democrats.
“We condemn this deliberate slap on non Muslims in Nigeria, this is politics taken too far, and we see this decision of APC and its flag bearers as very myopic, very appalling, unthinkable, and inequitable, unjust to natural justice and fair play.”
