A former Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Sunday Mbang is dead.
The Akwa Ibom State born prominent clergyman died at 86.
Although details of his death are still very sketchy, family sources said that the cleric died in his sleep on Tuesday night after a brief illness.
Sunday Mbang was born in Idua Eket, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on August 26, 1936 into Christian family.
Sunday Mbang became a minister of the gospel in in 1961 after extensive theological education and training in Nigeria and overseas.
He attended Effoi Group School, Salvation Army School, Akai-Ubium, Government School, Eket, Methodist Boys’ High School, Oron, Teacher’s College, Uzuakoli, Trinity Theological College, Umuahia, University of Ibadan, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and Harvard University, USA.
