News Investigators/ The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, on Saturday mourned the passing of former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Chief Audu Ogbeh.
Mr Mark, a former Senate President, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Mumeh, in Abuja, described Ogbeh as a dependable brother and friend.
Mr Mark said the death of the frontline politician was a huge blow to Nigeria’s political firmament.
He described Ogbeh as a forthright leader who upheld truth and devoted himself to serving humanity.
Mr Mark recalled that the late elder statesman belonged to a rare breed of political leaders who genuinely believed in Nigeria’s unity and the rights of all citizens.
“Mr Ogbeh preached justice, fairness and equity. He remained morally upright even in the face of adversity,” Mark said.
He added that the nation had lost one of its finest and most fertile minds — a man who gave his all to the service of country and humanity.
“Mr Ogbeh will be remembered for his brilliance, forthrightness and unwavering integrity,” Mark added.
He urged the government and people of Benue State, as well as Ogbeh’s family, to take solace in his exemplary life worthy of emulation.
Mr Ogbeh served as Minister of Communications in the ill-fated Second Republic under late President Shehu Shagari, and as Minister of Agriculture under President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Ogbeh died peacefully at his Abuja residence on Saturday morning, aged 78.
