The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives aspirant for Ihiala federal constituency, Barr Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam, has emerged the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate.
Maduakolam said he decided to move to YPP when it became obvious that certain forces have hijacked the process in his former party.
He appreciated the senator representing Anambra South Senate, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, stakesholders and other leaders of YPP who demonstrated faith in him which led to his emergence as the flag bearer.
“The CLEAN Ihiala project is still very much on course. The sole purpose of running in this election is to positively impact my constituency through legislative engagement.” Maduakolam noted.
The Anambra based lawyer appealed to his supporters not to be discouraged about the ugly development in PDP and the attempt to truncate his laudable program for his people.
“Since January 2022, I have been with you in PDP at Ihiala contributing my quota to the party. I told you I would represent you at the National Assembly, and when it was time, I applied and the 20 wards in Ihiala interviewed me, the party also cleared me to participate in the primary.
“I moved round the wards for consultations and the feedback was encouraging. Unfortunately as the primary drew closer, I discovered that some persons hijacked the process and sold the ticket to the highest bidder.
“I tried to confront this development but surprisingly, they maliciously removed my name on the ballot paper. what a travesty!” He said.
The UK trained lawyer however insisted that the political rascality perpetrated against him in PDP cannot abort his resolve to serve his people.
“I always maintain that political parties are vehicles to deliver democratic dividends. Now that PDP vehicle has broken down irredeemably, I have moved to Young Progressives Party (YPP) and I must state with all sense of responsibility that there is fresh air in YPP.” He added.
