Ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election, the Lagos State Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, on Tuesday, unveiled his running mate, the Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele.
Olajide picked Akindele to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s running mate deadline.

Akindele, an indigene of Ikorodu, Lagos East Senatorial district emerged from a list of other four names as possible running mate of the party’s governorship candidate.
It was gathered that Akindele emerged as deputy running mate to Jandor because of Senatorial zone.
According to reports, she shares the same Ikorodu and Lagos East Senatorial District with the All Progressives Party, APC, Lagos State incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hsmzat.
It was also learned that she is from the royal family in the town.
It was gathered that Akindele will be unveiled as running mate in Ikorodu on Tuesday, and will be presented to the party’s stakeholders and leaders.
The event, which will take place at the residence of the leader of Lagos4Lagos Movement, late Mrs Adenrele Ogunsanya, at Ikorodu, is scheduled for11 am.
In a statement by Head, Media and Communications, Jandor ’23 Campaign Organization, Gbenga Ogunleye, said that Jandor would unveil his running mate as well as “RESCUE Lagos Agenda.”
The statement read in part, “The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR) will officially announce his running mate and Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party tomorrow Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
