KWANKWASO DUMPS PDP FOR NNPP

The former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has finally dumped his old party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a new found New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

For long, the strong man of ‘Kwankwasiyya’ sect, has longed to defect from the PDP, following a disagreement over zoning which had rocked the major opposition party.

Kankwaso, was a presidential candidate in the 2019 elections but has officially decamped to NNPP on Wednesday.

The Network gathered that the former governor, was handed over his NNPP membership card from his ward chairman in Abuja.

On receiving his membership card, Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to join his new party to attain the change Nigeria is yearning for.

According to Kwankaso, the opposition party doesn’t see him as an important person adding that there were irreconcilable differences between him and many other leaders of the party.

“We had a situation in April last year where zonal positions were being shared among the States and all leaders in the six other States were given the opportunity to nominate. But in Kano, some people felt I wasn’t that important, so they had to do what they did.

“That is what triggered the issue, (defection) and I spent almost a year now waiting for the PDP to talk to me, even the new leadership, to come and talk to me; they didn’t want to talk to me.” He stated.

The former Minister of Defence in a media briefing in Abuja explained that in 2021, he was not carried along in the affairs of the party.

He said nobody in the leadership of the party, consulted him about the goings-on in PDP, for one year and that even when he tried to contact them, he recieved no response.

According to him, the ruling party is a failure and has failed to address the yearnings of Nigerian people adding that Nigerians are calling for positive change.

“Today, those who are not certain about where I belong, will be very sure that I am already in NNPP.

“Politicians like my humble self are always open. In addition, there are ideological differences that we have with so many people, especially the leaders in PDP and even in the APC itself.” He disclosed.
