Kogi Begins Construction Of Toll Gate On”Crusher” Road  – Commissioner

News Investigators/ The Kogi Government has begun the construction of a toll gate on Crusher Road to fund its maintenance.

The ‘Crusher Road, also known as Zone 8 Crusher Road, is a significant road in Kogi leading to several and state establishment.

Mohammed Yusuf, the Commissioner for Works, made this known while speaking with newsmen in his office on Friday in Lokoja.

“That road was constructed and commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2024 but it’s already failing because many articulated vehicles ply it with raw materials like coal.

”When we observed that the road was failing, we immediately called the contractor back on site. The contractor wanted to do the needful, but we asked him to wait because of the rains, ” he said.

The toll gate, he said, is intended to ensure the road upkeep and long-term usability.

He said that work was going on the toll gate and hopefully in some couple of weeks that gate will be completed.

According to him, the purpose is to generate revenue and whatever is realised will be put back into the maintenance of the road coupled with the heavy-duty plying the road.

The commissioner said that the Gov. Ahmed Ododo-led administration has done a lot in terms of infrastructure development in the state especially on road contraction.

Yusuf named some of completed roads to include the Zone 8-Zango-GYB road, the internal roads of CUSTECH, Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas internal roads, Kabba township road among others.

The commissioner urged communities to ensure that they protect the roads from any damage.

“They should also endeavour to report any suspicious nefarious activities on the roads to the government for action as well as avoid burning of tyres on the roads, blocking drainage systems, ” he said.
