KIDNAPPERS OF METHODIST PRELATE DEMAND N100MILLION RANSOM

Kidnappers of the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Kanu-Uche and two other clergy men have  asked for N100 million ransom for their release.

This was disclosed by the Secretary of Conference of Methodist Church of Nigeria, MCN, Rt. Revd. (Dr.) Michael Akinwale.

Akiwale on Monday confirmed the demand in a statement issued to to journalists.

The Church stated that it’s soliciting for urgent financial assistance to enable her quickly settle the situation for the safety of the Prelate and other abductees.

The statement added that it’s necessary to seek urgent response of Nigerians to raise the N100m ransom while giving out the Church bank account numbers.

“As we engage in Prayer Warfare, this serves to notify you that the abductors have demanded a ransom of N100 million

“In view of the urgency and the dire need to arrest the situation for the safety of our Prelate and other abductees, it has become imperative to seek your URGENT RESPONSE to raise the N100m ransom,” he said, sharing the church’s account details.” The statement reads.

Recall that His Eminence, the bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the Prelate’s chaplain, were kidnapped on Sunday in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia.

They were kidnapped while on their way from a programme in the Council area of the state.

The Abia State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident on Sunday, adding that; “it’s quite unfortunate.”

He said efforts are on top gear towards the rescue of the Prelate as well as other priests with him.

“We solicit credible information from the public toward their rescue, please,” Ogbonna, pleaded.
