Kaduna Power Supply Company Installs 1,000 Streetlights In Rural, Urban Communities

News Investigators/ The Kaduna Power Supply Company (KAPSCO), says it has installed 1,000 solar streetlights in rural and peri-urban settlements in the state.

Its Spokesman, Kasim Adamu, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Kaduna.

He said the gesture would enhanced access to alternative power supply via renewable energy, improved security and livelihood.

The project, he said, was in line with Gov. Uba Sani administration agenda towards reinvigorating the power sector for sustainable development.

He reitrated commitment of the company towards improving power generation to complement efforts of the state government.

Meanwhile, some of the residents in Kaduna, have lauded the initiative, adding it reduced crimes and encouraged growth of economic activities.

Abdullahi Muhammad, a resident of Rigasa, said that the Makarfi Road was now illuminated at night, and reduced crimes in the area.

An eatery operator, Mairo Danladi, said the street lighting encouraged her to operate at night, and enjoyed appreciable patronage.
