Joint Security Team Storm Hideout of Unknown Gunmen; Recover Arms, Vehicles, Coffin, Others In Anambra

The Operatives of the Joint Taskforce (JTF) in Anambra’ state have stormed the forest hideout of ‘unknown Gunmen’ in Ukpor community in Nnewi South Local Government Area.

The security outfit during the raid, recovered several arms, vehicles, military uniforms, charms and coffina.

They also arrested of some of criminal believed to have committed several heinous crimes in the state.

The security operatives were said to have engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle that left many of the bad boys dead and several others severely injured.

Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government, Lilu, Azia, Okija communities as well as Ozubulu in Ekwuaigo LGA have been described as the flashpoints of the gunmen attacking and kidnapping residents of the state.

Several forests have so far been destroyed by the security agencies who combed the areas to fish out the hoodlums.

Governor Charles Soludo had ordered the registration of native doctors across the 21 local government areas and three senatorial districts of the state.

Also, all the communities have been mandated to adopt ‘know your tenant’ strategy aimed at identifying the culprits and their partners in crime across the state.

According to investigations, some of the native doctors were found to be working in collaboration with the gunmen who patronize them for protective charms, oaths of secrecy, kidnapping and other crimes.

‘Unknown Gunmen’ have been terrorizing Anambra State for a while now until the people and the government of Anambra State decided to fight them head-on.

Since the resolve to fight them, the people have been winning the war against violent crimes.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu when contacted on Friday said, “operations have been going on in order to address and enhance security that we have been enjoying in the state. These operations are very desperate to make sure our people go back to their normal businesses.”

.He added that he has “no details of what you sent to me (recovered items and arrests as well as deaths) but I will get back to you as soon as I get that.”
