The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from allegations that the body is going about soliciting funds from politicians, businessmen and religious leaders to support the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

It cautioned those behind the act to desist in their own interest, pointing out that no politician, businessmen and religious leaders should for any reason donate his or her money to any one flashing the name of ESN security outfit without following the proper channels.

IPOB in a statement on Tuesday by its Director or Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful said, “We want our people to know that IPOB leadership has never authorized anyone to threaten and coarse our people to support ESN.”

“We encourage our people to report anyone masquarading as IPOB-ESN member using any trick to collect money from people to any IPOB family. Anyone giving money to such crimininals maybe ignorantly funding criminal activities against our land and people.”

“We wish to sound a note of warning over a worrisome information coming to the global family of IPOB in Biafraland and to particularly warn those going around collecting money from politicians with the name of Eastern Security Network (ESN) to stop.

“We maintain that no politician, businessman and religious leader should for any reason part with money to anyone flashing the name of ESN security outfit without following the proper channels.*

“We want our people to know that IPOB leadership has never authorized anyone to threaten and coarse our people to support ESN. Hence such person or group are scammers and therefore should be regarded and treated as such.”

“If you haven given money through anyone with good intentions to supporting IPOB/ESN and IPOB-DOS wasn’t notified of such funds, then you were scammed.
