The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has disassociated itself from the murder of one Muslim cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Iyiorji in Ebonyi state.

Also, the group frowned at the report by one of a national daily and urged the management to stop propagating falsehood, fabricated fallacies, and unconfirmed news against IPOB worldwide.

IPOB in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, made available to newsmen in Awka the Anambra’ state capital on Friday called on other media houses assisting in their desperation to tarnish IPOB to beware of their evil reportage against IPOB.

Powerful said, “IPOB does not engage in such barbaric killings and cannot be part of such heinous crime against humanity. IPOB does not kill flies let alone human beings and an Igbo man for that matter irrespective of his religious belief.”

It noted that the media should leave IPOB alone, get focused and stop encouraging Nigeria Security agencies on their state sponsored reportage against an innocent group, IPOB.

It asked why IPOB which had not killed its known enemy would kill an Igbo Islamic Cleric who was not a threat to Biafra movement.

The body alleged that unscrupulous elements and petty thieves are constantly stage- managed to lie against IPOB members and ESN Operatives.”

He said that IPOB does not engage in the murder of security operatives and are not the unknown gunmen committing all manner of heinous crimes against the society.

“IPOB and ESN never killed any Army officer, Police officer, or DSS agent despite all provocations in the name of unknown gunmen since we started the pursuit for Biafra freedom. IPOB and ESN are not hidding their activities and can not be called unknown gunmen because we are not faceless nor cowards. We are fearless before our enemies.”
