 The presidency and the Federal Government on Wednesday speedily reacted to the six weeks ultimatum handed to President Mohammadu Buhari by the Senate or face impeachment pleading with them to excercise for patience.

Responding to the threat  the president begged the lawmakers saying he working around the clock to bring the country’s security situation under control.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, while addressing the State House Correspondents after the week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, comnended the senators for their patriotism and concerns, stressing that steps are being taken to address their fears.

Recall that the Senators from the main  opposition political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), threatened President Buhari on Wednesday.

The Senators visibly expressed shock and fears concerning the country’s deteriorating security situation by handing the President a six-week deadline to address the issue or face impeachment proceedings.

In his statement, Lai Mohammed said; “resolution passed by Senators, as rightly said, it was passed when we were deliberating, but we thank them for their patriotism and their concern, but we are working round the clock, 24 hours, to ensure that the situation is brought under control”. He stated.

Lai described the purported threats by the terrorists to kidnap the President as laughable and mere propaganda.
