Then Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II has dismissed rumours about a purported dethronement of Onido of Ido, Chief Muritala Babalola.
Olubadan said that dethronement story was a wicked rumour with no iota of truth.
The Ibadan paramount ruler spoke at his Alarere residence on Monday while reacting to the rumour of the dethronement of Chief Babalola.
He said that the palace was not aware of the said dethronement.
The monarch said that he would not do anything inimical to the peace and tranquility of his kingdom.
Olubadan asked the public to disregard the rumour which he said was a malicious attempt to cast aspersion on the throne of Olubadan and personality of Oba Balogun.
He said “I cherish peace and covet it as well. Only the Almighty Allah enthrones and it is He alone that can as well dethrone.
“I’m Olubadan today by the benevolence of the same Almighty Allah, who enthroned the current Onido.
“I appeal to everybody involved in spreading the damaging rumour to desist as I assure the Baale and my people of Ido to remain calm and peaceful and go about their normal activities without let or hindrance”, Olubadan said
