Hoodlums have burnt down the country home of Anambra Deputy Speaker Dr Paschal Agbodike at Mbosi in Ihiala local government area of the state.

Also affected is the residence  of the President General Osumoghu Community in the same local government area, Ichie Dennis  Muomaife

According to the President General who is also the Chairman Association of President Generals in Anambra South Senatorial District, the arsionists carried the dastardly act under the guise of ‘unknown gunmen.’

“This gunmen burnt down my two buildings in the village, destroying my properties, and at Mbosi also they went and burnt down the the home of our Deputy Speaker Dr Paschal Agbodike”

Muomaife who spoke on Thursday at the Town Hall meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for President Generals and Traditional Rulers of Anambra South Senatorial District noted that the incident is a threat to the 2023 general elections if it is not checked.

“We are talking about the next year’s election and it is important to look at the security situations in Anambra South Senatorial District and fashion out ways of containing the problem.

“The hoodlums or the gunmen burnt down my two buildings at Osumoghu and went further to burn down the house of our Deputy Speaker Dr Paschal Agbodike.

“The funny thing here is those that did it are not outsiders but youths from our community and I mean little children and village urchins and they have parents and if you arrest them their parents would come to beg but they will never call them to order.” he said.

Also confirming the incident a Personal Assistant to the Deputy Speaker who would not want his name mentioned told reporters that the arsonists  “came to the compound and were firing gun shots in the air and got to the two buildings the Deputy Speaker built before going into politics  and also his Father’s house and set it ablaze and we had to run for our lives.

“They spent about two hours causing mayhem and attacking people and they boasted that the community vigilante groups or the police cannot engage them because they are ready to take on them.

“The Deputy Speaker was not at home when it happened and no life was lost but this is a danger signal before the election and though we don’t have anyone that we are suspecting but we suspect politics in that incident” he said.
