No fewer than three police men were shot dead by criminal elements near a checkpoint in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said that those killed were two Police Inspectors identified as INSP. Monday, INSP. Festus and a mobile man on escort duty
The Network gathered that an ASP identified as Chuks, the team leader sustained injuries.
The source added that the hoodlums made away with the police rifles and also burnt down the patrol vehicle.
According to the source, the incident took place when the Team of Dragon Police Personnel was on stop and search while it was raining at I.D.U roundabout, Oleh on July 23 (Sunday).
The source said that the police men were taking shelter in a filling station from the rain when they were ambushed by six gunmen suspected to be armed robbers.
Meanwhile, the corpses have been deposited at the General Hospital, Oleh
