GUNMEN ATTACK POLICE PATROL VAN, KILL THREE, CART AWAY RIFFLES

Gunmen operating in Okpanam near Asaba, the Delta State capital, have killed three police officers on patrol duty.

The gunmen and took away their official riffles.

The incident occured around 4am in the early hours of Sunday.

The Network gathered that the assailants ambushed the patrol team to kill them while other officers sustained different degrees of injuries.

Police spokesman Bright Edafe confirmed the incident adding that the officers were responding to an emergency call when they allegedly ran into the criminals, who murdered them in an ambush.

It was gathered that the gunmen made away with two AK47 rifles belonging to the operatives identified as ASP Eke Francis, Inspector Joshua Akengbo and Corporal Perekedo Unene.

The injured officer, according to the witness, is one ASP Bassey Wisdom.
