GUNMEN ABUCT 13 MOURNERS IN EDO, DEMAND N60m RANSOM

Gunmen have kidnapped 13 mourners along the Auchi-Benin Road in Edo State.

The mourners were traveling back to Delta State from a burial ceremony in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State when they were blocked by the gunmen along the Benin-Auchi Road.

A church elder who pleaded anonymity confirmed that the victims are members of God’s Will Mission owned by Archbishop Solomon Gbakara, with headquarters in Orhuwhorun in Udu, Delta State.

The Network could not confirm exact location where the minibus conveying the victims was hijacked.

According to the source, the gunmen fired rapidly into the air as they whisked away the occupants and the driver of the vehicle.

The source said that some of the occupants escaped while being taken to the kidnappers’ den.

The Network gathered that the hoodlums are demanding N60 million for the release of the victims including three top members of the church.

The Edo State Police spokesman, Mr Chidi Nwanbuzor said on the telephone that the police was yet to be notified of the incident and promised to return the call.
