Gunmen abduct Uyo based cleric, demand N100 million ransom

Suspected kidnappers have abducted the founder and President of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Apostle John Okoriko in the Church premises at Ibekwe Akpan Nya in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

Okoriko, who is a renowned clergy in the state was abducted last night, and family source told journalists that the abductors have already contacted them to demand for N100 million ransom to free the clergy.

An eyewitness, told journalists that the gunmen invaded the residence of the pastor located in the church premises by jumping through the fence and forcing their way into the sitting room.

The source said the gunmen started shooting sporadically to scare away people, dragged the octogenarian pastor outside into the nearby bush, where they escaped with the victim to an unknown destination.

The source who said the police was immediately contacted as some youths joined the police to comb the bush, but searched in vain for the man of God, who was no where to be found.

Confirming the incident, the Police spokesman in Akwa Ibom State, SP Odiko Macdon, said the abduction happened on Tuesday, April 19, at about 5pm at the church residence in Mkpat Enin.

He said the Commissioner of Police has already ordered for investigation into the abduction, and unravel the crime to bring the perpetrators to book.
