Gov Sule Signs N545.2bn 2026 Budget Into Law

News Investigators/ Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has signed the N545.2 billon budget for the 2026 fiscal year passed by the State House of Assembly into law.

The governor signed the budget, tagged:  Budget of Strategic Consolidation,  in  Government House on Monday in Lafia.

Mr Sule commended Dr Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the assembly and members for the speedy passage of the budget.

He appreciated the collaboration  between the Executive and the Legislative arms in the state and urged for its sustenance in the overall interest of the development of the state.

The governor reassured citizens that with the signing of the budget, the state would witness more people-oriented projects, programmes and policies.

He promised effective implementation of the budget with strict adherence to the budgetary provisions.

Mr Sule also called on all stakeholders to contribute their best towards the realisation of the dreams of the founding fathers of the state.

Also speaking, Speaker of the Assembly, Jatau, said the timely passage and signing of the budget was significant in the history of the State.

He pledged the continuos commitment of the Assembly under his watch to champion the course for the betterment of the people and development of the state.

“Today is a special day again in the history of the state, and we recall that the budget was presented to the assembly on Nov. 26.

“During the presentation, the assembly promised to pass it before the end of 2025, and we did that on Dec. 23.

“The budget has passed through all legislative processes, committee exercise before passage into law” He said.

The Speaker called for more  collaboration and support among the three arms of government for the benefit of the state..

Earlier, Hajiya Munirat Abdullahi the State’s  Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, gave an overview of the budget and its breakdown.

“The total budget for the state for the year 2026, as signed today, stands at N545,182,100, 910.14 only.

“N316.265,270,661.07 billion is for Capital Expenditure while N228.717,880,249.07 billion is for Recurrent Expenditure,” the Commissioner said.

She  explained that the House of Assembly had jerked up the 2026 budget by N27.6billion from N517.5 billion presented by the governor, bringing the  the total budget size at N545.2billion.
