Gov. Sani, Umahi Parley To Fast-Track Abuja–Kaduna-Kano Expressway Completion

News Investigators/ In a show of proactive leadership and inter-governmental collaboration, Kaduna State Governor, Gov. Uba Sani, on Friday met with the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to conduct a comprehensive review of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway project.

This is contained in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Kaduna by the Information Commissioner, Ahmed Maiyaki

The meeting, held in Abuja, reflected the Governor’s results-oriented leadership style and his firm commitment to ensuring the timely completion of one of Nigeria’s most strategic road corridors.

According to Mr Maiyaki, discussions at the meeting centered on expediting the completion of the Abuja–Jere–Kaduna segment, which serves as a lifeline for millions of Nigerians who rely on it daily for mobility, trade, and social connectivity.

He quoted the Governor as emphasising that the expressway transcends regional relevance, describing it as a “national artery” central to the socio-economic integration of the entire northern region.

Mr Sani reiterated that the expressway represented a flagship component of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aligning with the administration’s vision of modernising infrastructure and stimulating economic competitiveness.

“This expressway is not just a road — it is an economic corridor that connects people, markets, and opportunities across northern Nigeria and beyond,” Mr Sani stated.

In his response, Umahi commended Sani for his constructive engagement and consistent advocacy for the people of Kaduna State.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering the project within record time, disclosing that the  contractors had been directed to adopt double shifts to accelerate progress without compromising on quality.

The minister further assured that the innovative use of durable concrete pavement technology would guarantee long-term sustainability and reduced maintenance costs.

Mr Umahi said, “The contractors on site have pledged to intensify work, particularly around the Jere–Kaduna corridor, where progress is being closely monitored.

“The Kaduna State Government pledged continued partnership with the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure seamless coordination and resolution of local challenges affecting implementation
