A foam industry has been gutted by fire in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state.
The industry, located close to a Catholic Church was razed at about 6am on Saturday.
An eyewitness said the fire would have spread to other nearby structures if not for the quick response of the fire fighters who arrived the scene shortly.
Confirming the incident, State Fire Chief, Engr. Martin Agbili, said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, but added that no life was lost in the incident.
He urged residents to switch off electrical appliances when not in use, as well as to avoid anything that could cause fire outbreak during the season.
He said, “At about 0615hrs (6.15am) of today 24-12-2022, Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call of fire outbreak at Mater Foam Industry, Obosi near St. Albert Catholic Church, Odume, Obosi.
“Immediately, we deployed three fire trucks and our ever ready and fearless firefighters to the fire scene. We swung into action, controlled and fought it…
“The cause of the fire is not yet known. A lot were saved as we prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby building. No life was lost during the fire incident.
“We had a successful fire fighting operation. We must also know that we are at the peak of the HARMATTAN.”
