FCT POLICE PROMISES CRIME FREE EID-EL-KABIR FESTIVAL

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday, on Friday promised the residents of the FCT, Abuja of adequate security protection during the Eid-El- Kabir and public holidays.

The CP gave the assurance while felicitating with all Muslims within the FCT.

Babaji Sunday promised adequate security arrangement to protect residents in the FCT throughout the 2022 Eid-el-Kabir celebration and beyond.

He noted that the yearly Eid-El-Kabir celebration, is a good period for the Eid prayers and other religious activities adding that families and friends use the period for reunion in the spirit of the celebration.

Babaji Sunday reinteritated the Command’s readiness to beef up necessary security arrangements in place to protect residents and prevent any untoward situation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said in a statement on Friday, that the CP further noted that in pursuance of the common resolve to beef-up security, the Command would intensify robust stop and search operations.

According to her there will be high level visibility of police patrols and surveillance of places of worship, parks, recreational centers and residential areas.

He promised prompt response to any distress calls from across the FCT.

“The CP added that Tactical and Intelligence Assets of the Command have been strategically deployed across the nooks and crannies of the Territory to nip in the bud any crime or threat to lives of property of residents.

“He equally reiterated the commitment of the Command to working closely with other security and safety agencies and the citizens in promoting public safety, peace and security in the FCT.

”In addition to the above, Muslim faithfuls who might wish to observe the Eid prayer at the National Eid praying ground along the Airport road are to note that there’s enough space to admit everyone inside the praying ground.

“Worshipers are therefore advised to pray inside and avoid praying on the expressway in order to ensure orderliness and proper traffic management.

“Complementarily, there will also be traffic diversions on the Dantata bridge from 7:00 -10:00 am of the said date.” She said

According to the statement, vehicles will not be allowed to park in front of the praying grounds both on the expressway and service lane.

“At all other praying ground within the FCT, no vehicle will be permitted to park Two hundred (200) meters close to the praying grounds.

“Worshipers and residents are therefore advised to cooperate with Police officers deployed strictly for enforcement.

“Meanwhile, the CP has urged residents of the FCT to cooperate with the Police, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence to the Police through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883, while the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) desk, could be reached on: 0902 222 2352.” The statement said.
