News Investigators/ The FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has apprehended a truck loaded with suspected vandalised street light poles.
The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu made this known while speaking on the development on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr Odumosu stated that the truck was on transit to Kano before its interception.
Mr Odumosu said that the truck driver and passenger upon flag down by the command’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) Crack team fled the scene.
“Rather than stop to give the needed explanation, the driver of the truck and his motor boy fled and abandoned the truck containing the suspected vandalised items.
“This gave room for more suspicion which led to the impoundment and towing of the truck to the command headquarters,” he said.
He directed that the case be handed over to the command’s Intelligence and Investigations department to establish the sources and ownership of the suspected items.
“Thorough investigation shall be conducted to identify those behind this business and anyone found culpable in this regard would be prosecuted according to what the law prescribes,” the commandant said.
Mr Odumosu condemned the activities of vandals in sabotaging government efforts in providing necessary social amenities for residents.
He warned citizens with the intention to engage in vandalism of CNAI to have a rethink, emphasising that anyone caught will not be spared but made to face the full wrath of the law.
He also warned the leadership of pantaker markets within the FCT to distance themselves from buying, selling or receiving any vandalised government property in their markets, else they risk being shut down completely.
“The eagle eye of this command is beaming searchlights in every nook and cranny of the territory, including the pantaker markets, and we will not spare anyone found destroying what is meant for the collective good of the citizens”, Mr Odumosu warned.
