The commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) in Amangwu Ohafia community of Abia state, is currently on the run as Nigerian troops sustain it’s offensive against the rogue movement.
Amangwu Ohafia community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia state has been under siege by the Eastern Security Network.
The ragtag gunmen in the last two years took over the sole administration of the community after silencing the traditional leaders through intimidation.
The armed group which claim to be agitating for the restoration of defunct Biafra Republic, was responsible for the attack launched at the home of Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba, a known political figure from the community.
During the attack, his mansion and cars were set ablaze by the separatist group who accused him of planting surveillance cameras to spy their unholy activities.
They were also behind the unrest in the community last year which led to the death of a widow and her two grown up daughters.
Meanwhile, a source from the community said that the self-styled commander of the group who goes by the name, Uchechi Ulor has escaped to a nearby community, Okon-Oku while some of his foot soliders fled to Amaekpu since the military offensive against the group started last week.
The source also said that the fleeing separatists are plotting to regroup in the above mentioned communities.
