By Kamsi Anayo

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has confirmed the abduction of one of its priests, Rev. Fr. Marcellinus Okide.

The Diocesan Chancellor and Secretary, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Chidi Agubuchie, said Fr. Okide was abducted on Sept.17, at 5:00 pm while traveling along the Eke-Egede-Affa Road in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Fr. Okide, who serves at St. Mary Amofia-Agu Affa Parish, in Udi LGA, was en route to his parish when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Describing the incident as ‘troubling’, the diocese issued a fervent appeal to the faithful and the public at large for prayers, hoping for the swift and safe release of Fr. Okide.

Additionally, the diocese called for a change of heart on the part of the kidnappers.
