Elections: FG Closes Nigeria’s Land Borders From February 25 to February 26

The Federal Government has ordered the closure of the nation’s land borders from February 25 to February 26, as a result of the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday.

The Comptroller-general, Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Isah Jere Idris , announced the border closure  in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

The Immigration boss announced that  the restriction of movements from all land borders  takes effect from 12 midnight  on Saturday, February 25, to Sunday, February 26, 2023.

He directed comptrollers of state command to ensure strict enforcement of the order to shut the borders.

“Further to the Presidential and National Assembly elections taking place on February 25, 2023, the the federal government has directed the closure of all Nigeria’s land borders with effect from Saturday February 25 to Sunday, February 26, 2023.

“This is to restrict movements across the borders during the election days. The public is to take note and ensure compliance.”

“Accordingly, the NIS boss directed all of its  command comptrollers , especially those in border states to ensure strict enforcement of the directive.” The statement reads
