Edo Train Station Kidnap: Security Operatives Rescue Two More Victims

A joint team of the military, police, local vigilante and hunters have rescued two more victims of the Edo train station  Kidnap saga.

Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nekhihare, who disclosed this on Friday said nine persons are still in custody of the kidnappers.

According to him, the latest two were rescued on Thursday morning. 

 Nekhihare stated further that the state government in collaboration with security agencies is doing everything to ensure the release of those in captivity. 

Suspected armed herdsmen had invaded the train station in Igueben, headquarters of Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State on Saturday.

The kidnappers were said to have abducted 32 passengers waiting to board train to Warri, Delta State.

However the Government said with the rescue of seven hostages in the kidnappers den, only 13 persons are in custody of the abductors.

The commissioner also also on the 

 rescued President of Igueben Area Customary Court, Mrs Precious Aigbonoga who was kidnapped on Monday.

The judge was abducted on Monday morning around Ugoneki axis, on her way to the court in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State

He confirmed that the judge was rescued by a combined team of security agents, vigilante and hunters in the state.

“Mrs. Aigbonoga was rescued unhurt but unfortunately, one of the policemen, DSP Michael Adams, involved in the rescued operation died of natural causes after the operation. He wasn’t fell by bullet.

“Also the state deputy governor, and  Directors of all the security agents have paid a condolence visit to the widow and children of the deceased.” He said
