Easter: Anambra NSCDC Deploys 1,525 Officers To Safeguard Lives, National Assets

News Investigators/ The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra Command, says it has deployed 1,525 personnel to safeguard lives and forestall vandalisation of critical national assets during the Easter festivities.

Olatunde Maku, the State Commandant of NSCDC said that the deployment was to also protect state and local government assets.

Mr Maku made the disclosure in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Edwin Okadigbo, and made available to newsmen in Awka on Thursday.

He said the deployment was in line with the recently launched joint Operation Zero Kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

The commandant added that the personnel would secure places of worship, recreational centres, amusement parks, markets, flashpoints, black spots and other vulnerable areas.

According to him, the aim is to ensure an incident free Easter celebration and beyond.

“I urge our personnel to be cautious, with all sense of decorum and alertness.

“They should also be mindful of the fundamental human rights of the citizens while discharging their responsibilities,” he said.

Maku encouraged the public to go about their daily activities without fear, stay security-conscious and be law abiding.

He also urged them to shun all forms of violence, promote peace and unity in their communities and promptly report and suspicious activity.
