Ex- Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Joshua Dariye, has declared his interest to contest the 2023 senatorial election after he was offered ticket to contest under the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in the state.
Also offered senatorial ticket is his former cabinet member, Alexander Kwapnoe.
Both politicians will contest the senatorial seats of Plateau Central and Plateau South, respectively.
Recall that President Mohammadu Buhari granted Dariye, presidential pardon three months ago, but he finally released three days ago.
Dariye, represented Plateau Central at the Senate under the platform of the LP between 2011 and 2015 before crossing over to APC.
He would be contesting against Diket Plang of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Golkuna Gotom of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, Kwapnoe will contest with incumbent Governor, Simon Lalong of APC and Gen. Napoleon Bali (rtd) of PDP in Plateau South.
Speaking on his ticket, Dariye, who regained his freedom after two years in prison, said politics is his life adding that he cannot do without politics.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have condenmed the interest of the former Governor to contest next year’s election adding that he was in a hurry to join politics after his jail experience.
The governor of Plateau State, Lalong on Wednesday commended and appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for granting Dariye and former Governor Jolly Nyame of Taraba State, amnesty.
