Onyedi Igwe, Port Harcourt
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday insulted the two umbrella bodies of the Ijaw Nation, the Ijaw National Congress and the Ijaw Youth Council for demanding the release of the detained member of House of Representatives, representing Bonny-Degema Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Mr. Farrah Dagogo.
The Ijaw National Congress (INC) had issued Wike a 48-hour ultimatum to release the embattled House of Representatives member, Farah Dagogo who is accused of sponsoring cultists to disrupt the screening of the National Assembly and House of Assembly aspirants at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Port Harcourt.
Wike, said in that instead of going to the government to find out what happened, the INC instead issued an ultimatum to release the detained House of Representatives member.
He invoked thunder to “fire the INC” and the ultimatum they issued to him as they did not know the kind of person they are dealing with.
Wike, who spoke at the St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Port Harcourt at the weekend said, “That brings us to where some people say We are Ijaw Youths Congress, We are Ijaw National Congress, you are wasting your time. I am not, I don’t even know why some people don’t know who they are dealing with. Me? Threaten me, 48 hours!
“Instead of them to come to government. What is the problem? What happened? You come to threaten government with ultimatum. Thunder Fire you and ultimatum! “ He bragged.
Dagogo, a governorship aspirant, was picked up by the police when he appeared for screening at the PDP Southsouth Zonal Office a day after Wike declared him wanted.
The INC in a statement signed by its President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, said Wike must release Dagogo, who represents Bonny-Degema Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
