Members of Enugwu-Ukwu Community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have waded into the killing of one of their daughters, Mrs Uzoamaka Ekpe, by a man, suspected to be the son of her landlord.
The daughter of the deceased, Miss Mmesoma Ekpe had through a viral video sought for justice for her mother, while also narrating how the incident happened.
Miss Ekpe begged for kindhearted individuals to come to the aid of the family , to help her and her siblings to pack out of the compound, as they do not feel safe living in the compound of the same people who killed their mother.
The family also begged for help to enable them to get justice for their mother, who she described as a kindhearted woman.
However, the Enugwu-Ukwu community through its President General, Chief Bonny Ozo Nkwuaku, has waded in, promising to ensure justice for the deceased.
In a notice to members of the community titled: Justice for Mrs Ekpe, Nkwoaku said: “Sequel to the viral video released by the daughter of late Mrs Ekpe where she narrated the circumstances surrounding the death of her mother last Saturday, I appeal for your calm, patience and understanding on this matter.”l
“The ECDU, Onitsha Branch President and the Chairman of Uruekwo Village are in the know about this matter and have been working round the clock to ensure justice.
“The culprit is already in custody. The Anambra State Commissioner of Police is equally aware and has promised to ensure justice is done.
“Few minutes ago, I personally spoke with the Police spokesman of the Anambra State Command and our discussions were very cordial.
“The remains of Mrs Ekpe who until her death was the wife of Mr. Uche Ekpe of Uruekwo Village, Enugwu-Ukwu has been deposited at the Bekee Hospital, Nimo pending autopsy which will be conducted tomorrow.
Police authorities had on Sunday arrested the culprit, a 30 years old man, Ebube Oba.
It said investigation had commenced, promising that the suspect would be charged to court.
