The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele has resumed duty after his annual leave.
This was contained in a statement by the Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Osita Nwanisobi, in Abuja on Monday.
Nwanisobi said that Emefiele who proceeded on annual leave in December 2022 resumed work in January 16, 2023.
According to him, the CBN Governor “resumed with renewed vigour to perform his duty ahead of the first Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the year scheduled for January 23 to 24, 2023.”
He quoted the CBN Governor as having thanked Nigerians for keeping with with the bank and urged them to sustain the support for the policies of the Bank aimed at ensuring a stable financial system.
“Mr. Emefiele remains committed to performing the task before him in line with his oath of office and the policy direction of President Muhammadu Buhari.” He added
Meanwhile the Department of State Security, DSS, has denied reports of it reported invasion of the office of the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Spokesman of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya described the report as fake and fake and misleading in a statement on Monday.
“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making around that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23. This is fake news and quite misleading.” He said
