The Tantita Security Services Limited, working against illegal bunkering in Niger Delta coastlines in collaboration with other security agencies, have intercepted a massive vessel carrying barrels of illegally sourced crude oil in Escravos area of Delta state.
The vessel was intercepted last on Friday while trying the escape with illegal crude Pom from the creeks of the Niger Delta creeks.
The security outfit belong to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo the leader of the Tantita Security outfit which is in the forefront of the campaign against oil theft in the Niger Delta.
Last year, the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Ltd, engaged the services of Tantita Security Services Limited to check the disturbing theft the nation oil resources.
The company’s efforts had resulted in majorbincrease in the daily production of crude oil in the country
Figures from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission had shown that Nigeria which is yoked to subsidy crisis had lost nothing less than 120 million barrels of crude oil from January and September 2022.
The NUPRC stated that the crude oil loss in production translates to $12.6 billion in less than a year. Nigeria’s submission to the OPEC Secretariat put September crude output at just 938,000 b/d, just over half its quota for the month, while total liquids production was only 1.14mn b/d.
This was the magnitude of existential economic crisis of mind boggling proportion that steered Mr Melee Kyari to search for desperate solutions to one of the largest organized crimes targeting the nation’s economy.
In August, despite the outrage and condemnation that greeted the announcement, Kyari stood by his decision to engage the indigenous pipeline surveillance firms to curb the glaring threat to the welfare of Nigerians.
