The Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, has been shutdown following the burning alive of a famale student on Thursday over alleged blasphemy.
An eyewitness reported that the student, who was alleged to have insulted Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), was beaten to pulp before setting her corpse ablaze.
The arsonists videotaped the incident and it was posted on social media. The alleged arsonists, made up of young males were seen throwing stones at her while some allegedly used sticks and woods of different objects to hit her.
The Network gathered that her killers after she lied liveless on the ground in an unconscious situation, her killers followed their actions by using condenmed tyres and placed them around her before, she setting her ablaze.
Another source also claimed that a mob broke into her hostel where she was and dragged her out of her room and killed her.
In response, the school management quickly shut down the school indefinitely.
“Following today’s early morning students rampage in the college, the college management has resolved to close down the college indefinitely with immediate effect.”
“Consequently, all students are hereby directed to vacate the college campus immediately,” the management said in a statement.
