Benue killing: Sen. Moro Visits Victims, Asks FG To Act Fast

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Sen. Abba Patrick Moro, on Monday, visited Igama community in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the State to commiserate with victims of the terrorist attack in the area.

The villagers are temporarily taking refuge at Ojapo community, a nearby village, after they were displaced from their ascentral home following armed herders attack that resulted in the killing of 13 persons in early hours of Sunday.

The attack by armed herders also resulted in destruction of several properties worth millions of Naira

Senator Moro while sympathizing with the victims stated that the attack was unwarranted, unprovoked and barbaric, saying that the people of Igama community are going about with their legitimate businesses before they came under attack.

He said Igama was a peaceful community whose people live peacefully with one another and neighbors, and go about their farming and legitimate businesses peacefully, stating that the people did not deserve the attack.

Comrade Moro called on Federal government to act fast and bring the worsening l insecurity across Nigeria under control, stressing lives are no longer safe in the country.

“What happened was unacceptable. I therefore call on the relevant security agents to go after the killers and their sponsors and bring them to book.

“Nothing short of arrest and prosecution of the criminals who have no value for human lives, would be accepted.

” I sincerely sympathize with families who lost their loved ones and those displaced from their homes” Moro stated.

He promised to work with the relevant authorities to ensure that displaced persons are well taken-care of at the temporary IDP camp pending when they will return home.
