BAYELSA GUBER: CHIEF TIMIPRE SYLVA AND DAVID LYON SET TO LOCK HORNS FOR APC TICKET

Two of the major politicians in the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, and former Governorship Candidate of the Party in 2019, Chief David Lyon have joined the race for the Creek Haven Government House, Bayelsa State.

Chief Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State, was a major backer of Chief David Lyon in in the 2019 in which he was return as the Governor elect of the state.

On Monday, some ‘friends’ of the Chief Sylva purchased the All Progressives Congress nomination and expression of interest forms for the Bayelsa governorship for him while his political ally got his own last week.

The decision of the two APC chieftains to lock horns for the party’s ticket in Bayelsa confirms widespread speculations in the relationship between the duo.

Sylva, a former Governor of Bayelsa State was appointed Minister of State for Petroleum Resources of

Nigeria in 2019.

He is known to have savoured a second term in office and has kept an eye on the Governorship seat currently occupied by Governor Douye Diri.

The former Guber Candidate, David Lyon, from the  Southern Ijaw LGA, was declared winner in 2019

However, his election was invalidated barely 24 hours to his swearing in by the Supreme Court because  his running mate, Senator Degi Eremienyo Wangagra, submitted a fake certificate to INEC.

The Bayelsa State governorship election is scheduled to hold on November 11, 2023.
