Ahead of the May 30, All Progressives Congress, primaries, former Lagos State Governor, Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, submitted his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms in readiness for the presidential primaries of the APC.
Tinubu was represented by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, and other APC chieftains and stakeholders in Abuja.
The Network gathered that Tinubu had garnared 370 delegates from across the country to complete the submission of his presidential forms.
It was learned that one of the preconditions for submitting of the expression of interest and nomination forms, in the APC, was for its presidential aspirants to submit the forms with the signatures of 10 statutory delegates from each state and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the APC, each of the aspirants is expected to score 370 statutory delegates’ signatures, covering the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The party mandates all the aspirants to also sign undertakings to accept the results of the primaries and work for whoever emerges as the flagbearer ahead of 2023, among other conditions.
Speaking to journalists shortly after submitting the form, Babachir Lawal, said that Tinubu has fulfilled all the requirements for the submission of the ‘winning form.’
According to him, the Tinubu team is confident of victory in the forthcoming primaries of the APC.
“We feel elated that today we have come to submit the winning form and we have complied with one of the major requirements of the party for contesting for presidency on the platform of APC. We have done all that is required.
“We have submitted all the documents that are required. As you can see we have received our acknowledgement copy and we are confident that victory will be ours on 30th May during the convention.
He said that the resignation of ministers to contest in the primaries was not threat as the Tinubu team was sure of getting majority of votes among the delegates.
He said that the Team was 100 percent prepared for victory and was ready to convert whatever challenges that may emerge to opportunities.
He said Tinubu as a democrat is not afraid of any election which he said has two outcomes, and would support any winner if the election is free and fair.
“He is a democrat, every politician should not be afraid of election because the probability are two; either you win or lose. So, if we win at the convention, we will go back home, we will leak our wounds and prepared to support the winner if he wins in a fee and fair manner.”
