A Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Friday ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off is seven-month old strike and go back to the classroom immediately.

The court in it’s ruling gave ASUU seven days within which to file the appeal following the obedience of the ruling of the lower court.

The appellate court ruled that the only option for the request of the striking lecturers’ appeal to be entertained by the court is for them to go back to the classroom.

The Appeal Court asked ASUU to obey the ruling of the National Industrial Court which ordered the union to call off its strike adding that it’s the only way their appeal could be effect.

The court, however, granted the application of ASUU on the condition that the union obeys the ruling of the lower court and call off the strike immediately pending the determination of the substantive suit.
