News Investigators/ Nnobi Community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra on Thursday held its maiden carnival to promote rich cultural heritage of the community.
The event sponsored by an industrialist and philanthropist, Hamilton Ezeonu, featured cultural displays of dances and local food.
In a message to the event, the Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo lauded the philanthropist for sponsoring the maiden carnival and for being a critical stakeholder in the state.
Mr Soludo, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ernest Ezeajughi, at the event held at St. Theresa’s Field on Thursday in Nnobi, commended Mr Ezeonu for his commitment towards human and community development.
He noted that the event showcased the rich socio-cultural existence of Nnobi son’s and daughters.
He stressed that the event has added huge value to the administration’s vision of making Anambra a tourist and cultural destination in Nigeria and Africa at large.
He said that making Anambra a cultural and tourism capital is core to their administration’s policy.
According to him, the government have invested heavily in construction of the Solution Fun City, Agulu Lake Resort, remodeling of Ogbunike Cave, among others.
In his remarks, Mr Ezeonu said that the carnival was targeted at showcasing the beauty and rich cultural heritage of Nnobi people, talent exhibition, and harnessing potential among the community members.
Mr Ezeonu added that he single-handedly sponsored the maiden carnival to strengthen love and peaceful co-existence among the people with a view to showcasing Nnobi as a prominent community.
The traditional ruler of Nnobi, Igwe Nick Obi, said the cultural carnival was necessitated by the need to foster unity and love among community members.
Obi encouraged other villages and quarters to key into such initiative as a measure to sustain Igbo rich cultural heritage.
